Oral Surgery: The general and specialty field of dentistry having to do with the surgical repair, reconstruction, and other surgical treatment of the oral and maxillo-facial structures of the head. The terms oral and maxillo-facial are intended to define an area extending from under the eyes and nose to the top of the neck including all of the structures found between the back wall of the throat and the front of the face. Classification For purposes of presenting oral surgical services in an organized fashion, coded procedures can be divided into two categories: 1. Exodontic services (those involving tooth removal) and Non-exodontic services (those that do not involve tooth removal). |
